Making Your Own Opportunities
Thursday 14th November
7-9pm
Birmingham REP
Cost: FREE
Directing is a tricky world. It’s competitive and the path to finding your next job or project isn’t always clear. In this week’s workshop we’ll look at how you can look at making your own opportunities: creating your own work, finding scratch opportunities, and how to start and develop relationships and networks that will support your work.
Nyasha Gudo will talk about how to make connections with more established directors/buildings and advice on how to approach them for potential assistantships or observations. Lucy Bird will talk about setting up your own small-scale companies, and producing work for fringe venues.
There will be space for everyone to share the opportunities and groups they know about in the midlands with the rest of the group. There will also be an opportunity for participants to sound out their own ideas and have a go at creating project plans to create a structure in which they might realise their ideas.
