Curious about applying to the JMK Award 2020? Come along to one of our free workshops!
These workshop are an opportunity to find out more about taking part in the annual JMK Young Director Award.
The JMK Award was established in memory of James Menzies-Kitchin, a young theatre director who died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 28, to encourage others to fulfil their potential as he had promised to do. The Award enables one outstanding applicant each year to create their own production of their choice of classic text at the Orange Tree Theatre. For many, winning the JMK Award is the breakthrough moment in their directing career. Increasingly simply taking part in the Trust’s unique, intensive development and selection process has given powerful impetus to the best theatre practitioners of the future. Previous winners include Orla O’Loughlin, Joe-Hill Gibbins, Bijan Sheibani, Roy Alexander Weise and Polly Findlay.
The Award is open to those aged 35 and under on 1st January 2020 who have directed no more than 3 professional productions.
